Bhutan’s currency is the Ngultrum (Nu.). Ngultrum has the same value as an Indian Rupee, approximately 47 Ngultrum exchanged for one US Dollar. Tourists are advised to carry their money in the form of traveler’s checks (preferably American Express) with some cash in US dollars would be best, which might be used for incidental expenses. The bank of Bhutan has an exchange counter at the paro international Air port where you can change the money. There are also bank branches in all major towns where you can change the money. The Banks are not open at convenient times. They are open only on the working days; speak to your guide for the convenient ways to change money.
Note: Indian currency is accepted in Bhutan but large denomination notes of 500 or 1000 rupees are not accepted. Nepalese rupees are not accepted in Bhutan. Visa is accepted in few stores in Paro, Thimphu and Bumthang only.
Druk Path Trek is one of the popular treks in Bhutan. The trek usually begins from paro and ends in Thimphu or vice versa. It is a short and scenic trek with some of the best views of the Himalayan Mountains .....
