Eco Project
A voluntary contribution |

Eco projects is a Voluntary contribution made by a group or individual tourist/visitors visiting the Himalayan kingdom of Bhutan. This Eco project is neither a Govt. Organization nor a Private run Business Organization, but a voluntary NON PROFIT, help initiated by the Bhutan Eco tours and Adventure. It is a new concept of tour for to day’s modern traveler. The traveler contributes extra on top of their normal tourist package for the voluntary eco project program, based on the type of project they choose to sponsor from the below three category eco projects.
Our many years of experience and guiding, we have come across many people who wants to help and give money, buy sweets and gifts for the school children, Nuns and to the old people. As per our tourism guide lines, we do not encourage the tourists to give sweets and develop them in to a habit to hanging on to the visitor. We also see that such kind of gifts in the long run do not benefit, encouraging our children and people in to street beggars. So, we have come up with the idea of turning such gifts in to more beneficial and long tern use.
We are only working as a facilitator between the voluntary donors and the receiver. Three different types of project have been initiated to help our rural school children, nuns and the monks for their education and livelihood. We believe that only through such voluntary initiatives can help and turn their heart felt gifts in to a more meaningful and long term benefit.
Our Eco project, Program offers international travelers an incredible and unique opportunity to visit some of the most remote and majestic sites in the country side, live with indigenous communities, school children and promote environmental awareness and social justice by sponsoring and installing a useful solar energy system, or a Good Toilet, or a Good clean drinking water for them.
The participants will spend few days in the field installing the project for the beneficiary school OR Nunnery OR villages. Participants will work in small teams in collaboration with the students, nuns or local villagers to experience them selves. During the program, accommodations will be arranged for volunteers within the work area and cultural exchange with the community is emphasized.
Bhutan eco tours and Adventure will make special efforts to let you know your heart felt support goes to the grass roots in the field and give you the good feeling of helping those in need. We will work hard so that you can make a real difference in the lives of those forgotten by others.
Since the inception of our Program, many students, nuns from the different monasteries have been benefited by the program through the active participation of many philanthropy volunteers. |

Hi Sangay,
It has been quite a long time since our trip last July.
The teens and their parents have been so glad that they made their way to Bhutan, and the solar installation has gotten much interest for other schools in Bhutan who need solar and student volunteers to travel through your company. I am hoping to plan another bigger group for either 2009 or 2010. I have a teacher and a student who plan to be in Bhutan this Spring or Summer 2008 and would like to make the same journey to Wolathang School. They would like to deliver the letters the American students wrote, show a picture book we made, deliver some books, and maybe teach an American handicraft lesson as well as take pictures for our Solar Siblings website. This may be only for a day trip or for a few days, depending on what you think and what she comes up with in her own ideas. Please email me back about this possibility. It would be very good for future groups to travel through your company.
My very best wishes,
Suzanne Dickerson,
parent participant in Solar Bhutan 2007 for HLF |
